Should you try? Yes, and go by 4/6/12 to get 50% off (up to $20) via Scoutmob.  Make sure to get the mac & cheese.

[Side Note: If you haven’t used Scoutmob, you need to get on that.  Scoutmob offers deals for a good amount of restaurants, ranging from 50% off to even 100% off.  You don’t even have to buy anything ahead of time.  All you do is download the app or go to Scoutmob’s website, choose the restaurant, click claim, show it to your waiter/waitress and get your discount.  It’s that easy.  The only caveats are some restaurants have limits (e.g. 50% off up to $30), some can only be used for dinner, most if not all are dine-in only and you can only use the deal once.]

Top Chef’s Angelo Sosa brings Social Eatz to Midtown East, offering American classics with an Asian twist.  I’d consider the restaurant a little trendy with prices for some dishes on the higher side (e.g. $12 for their signature burgers), but if you go before 4/6/12 and use Scoutmob, you get 50% off your bill (up to $20).  For half off, it’s definitely worth a trip to try Angelo’s creations.

Toasted Sesame and Chop-Chop Salad ($6-7):Refreshing with sweet dressings (Sweet & Sour and Tangerine, respectively), the salads mix romaine with a snap peas, tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms and egg (depending on the salad).  Only complaint is they are a little heavy with the dill in the Chop-Chop salad.

Social Eatz's Mac & Cheese

Mac & Cheese ($4.50; to the right): Pretty obsessed with the mac & cheese here.  It’s of course cheesy, but it’s also a little spicy and sweet.  The flavor profile is pretty complex for this traditional dish.  I’m thinking they add red pepper to add a little kick, but can’t figure out where the sweetness comes from.

Bibimbop Burger ($12): Winner of Eater’s Best Burger in America Competition, I found the burger to be unique and quite tasty.  The pickled carrot and cucumber add a nice sour crunch, and eggs on burgers are always amazing.  The burger is also served with a small side of the Korean spiced slaw, an interesting take on slaw mixing cabbage with Korean spices (ie kimchi).

The burgers are cooked medium, but I think they marinate the meat and it ended up being a little mushy.  Although good and something different, I can’t imagine this is the best burger in America.

Kung Pao Wow Sandwich ($10; above): The soy-sesame marinated chicken is cooked with thai chili and accompanied by a roasted peanut spread.  The chicken is marinated well and is tasty, but the bread is what makes the sandwich great.  The baguette is fresh and crunchy and is the perfect type of bread for this sandwich.

Korean Beef Taco ($9; below): The meat (basically bulgogi) is marinated well and retains its moisture.  Corn tortillas are always a nice touch, and these tacos were better than the tilapia tacos (a little bland).

Toga Rings ($4.50): Big onion rings and although nice and crispy, I would go for the other sides (ie mac & cheese).
